Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for Cannon Ball Apartments  

• The city council is giving up a 26-year Tax-Free Tax Increment Financing (TIF). The citizens of Cannon Falls should be appalled by this unprecedented agreement. Who will closely monitor the specifics of this agreement for the next quarter century? 

Dollar General and Economic Growth 

• Our current Mayor and City Council voted not to work in good faith with Dollar General. This could be a great hindrance in recruiting new businesses to our fine community. We’re sending the message of being an unfriendly city to potential businesses looking to relocate. 

Public Input: A Voice for the People 

• We should increase the time frame for the public to address the council from three minutes to ten minutes. We have to give our residents more time to share their thoughts and concerns. 

Cannon River Raceway

• Embracing new, non-traditional business models like Cannon River Raceway could inject fresh energy into our town, especially on weekends. It’s not just about bringing in a raceway; it’s about stimulating the local economy and benefiting existing businesses through increased foot traffic and local engagement. 

City-Wide Zoning Updates 

• It’s time to modernize our city zoning regulations. Frequent special meetings to grant exceptions indicate that our current rules are outdated. Let’s streamline zoning to better serve the future needs of Cannon Falls, making sure we’re prepared for growth and development.
